For those who love simplicity, it offers the clean look of Euro styling and the elegance of wood. The titanium gold plating is one of the best available, second perhaps only to Rhodium. This pen takes us to Mexico with a fine piece of hand turned Bocote. Bocote (Cordia eleagnoides) is a small tree that typically produces lumber that is 3-7' long by 3-6" wide by 1-2" thick. It is logged by hand with mules in a selective cutting method in Southern Mexico that is very sustainable and responsible. Bocote is related to Ziricote and possesses some similar characteristics including black lines, density, and overall appearance. Occasionally boards will have Birdseye figure, beautiful swirling patterns, and/or good variegation. Yellows fade to a tobacco brown while blacks remain. The wood is exceptional to turn, with a natural silky smooth polish that is easily attainable. We have turned this well grained piece to make a beautiful pen. We then coated it with several coats of CA (cyanoacrylate) to protect it forever from hand oils and acids and buffed it to a brilliant finish. This pen uses a twist mechanism and a smooth writing Cross refill. It measures approximately 7/16 in wide by 5 1/2 inches long. Comes in a grey velour lined gift case.
