Introducing the Vertex. This rugged, ready for anything hex shaped pen won't have trouble surviving any tough guy's use. It's refined, faceted, hexagonal nuts and bolts design will surely impress any tool guy. This one is hand turned from Ebony, an African wood noted for its density and commonly used for fine cutlery, pool cues, knife handles and many other things where hardness and resistance to water is important. This wood is very black with a fine open grain. It has been finished with Shellawax which differs from our usual acrylic based finish (CA). This wood has a real wood feel and as the wax wears with time it will develop it's own "patina". Patina is a misused word which really refers to a particular type of finish on antiques, but pen lovers frequently use it to refer to the natural shine that develops in spots on a real wood pen as it wears and absorbs oils from the users hand. One can restore the original look if they prefer by waxing with furniture oil or wax. The beautiful gun metal finish compliments this dark wood and lend a mysterious but impressive look to it. The pen features a reliable click mechanism for easy one-handed operaton, and uses a smooth writing Parker style refill. It measures approximaely 5 1/2" by 1/2" in diameter.
